Guadalajara is one of Spain's fifty provinces, whose provincial capital city is its namesake, Guadalajara. It borders to the north with Soria, to the northeast with Zaragoza, to the east with Teruel, to the south with Cuenca, to the west with Madrid and to the northwest with Segovia. The province has 288 townships and the second most important of them, after the provincial capital, is Azuqueca de Henares, the province's industrial centre. Furthermore, several of the towns in this province are relevant historical / artistic ensembles, namely: Atienza, Brihuega, Hita, Molina de Aragón, Palazuelos, Pastrana and Sigüenza. Guadalajara province is divided into several areas, which are: Alcarria, Señorío de Molina, Campiña and Serranía. The towns of Brihuega, Hita, Pastrana, Atienza, Sigüenza, Palazuelos and Molina de Aragón have all been declared “Historical Ensembles”.
