Some of the most notable streets in the Central District are: Paseo de Recoletos, Paseo del Prado, Calle Gran Vía, Calle Alcalá, Calle Génova, Calle Sagasta and Calle Atocha, among others.
Some of the most relevant office buildings in Madrid are found in this district, some for rent and some for sale. One of the most emblematic properties is Edificio Metrópolis, located where Calle Alcalá and Gran Vía merge. It is the headquarters of Seguros Metrópolis, who also owns the building. This area is also home to Edificio Telefónica, at No. 28 on Calle Gran Vía, occupied by Fundación Telefónica.
Another of the relevant buildings in the district is Edificio Axis, located at No. 1 Plaza de Colón. This property, formerly the Barclays Bank headquarters, is now the property of CBRE Global Investors, and renovation of the building was designed by the architect Norman Foster. The tenant of this building, Caixabank, will establish the first all in one concept here.
Miraflores Palace is also located in this district, at No 15 Calle Carrera de San Jerónimo. It belongs to RemerInvestment and its tenants are Nike, the National Tourism Office of Japan and the Regus co-working spaces, among others.
Other representative buildings are: Paseo Recoletos 37, the property of Inmobiliaria Colonial, and Plaza de Santa Bárbara 2, where the property belonging to the Swiss Finance Group UBS is located, currently occupied by the BBVA Innovation Centre.
