Origin of Vicálvaro

Since its annexation to Madrid in 1951, Vicálvaro belonged to the districts of Vallecas, Ventas and Moratalaz. Since the restructuring in 1987 it is an independent district.

It became industrial land due to the factories of cement, lime, gypsum, brick, concrete, metal structures, glass construction materials, etc.

The revolution of 1854, also known as La Vicalvarada, was carried out in the area around de village of Vicálvaro.
