Its original name was Azaña, which was changed at the time of Franco, who decided to change the name to erase any relationship with Manuel Azaña, although this link has not been demonstrated. The town is located in a plain dominated on the right and left by two small mountain ranges or hills that slightly uneven the plain of its area. It belongs to the region of La Sagra and borders the municipalities of Illescas and Yeles to the north, Esquivias and Borox to the east, Pantoja and Villaluenga de la Sagra to the south, and Yuncos to the west. From north to south of the municipality, the streams of Guatén and Viñuela flow, the latter a tributary of the former with its mouth in the municipality of Cobeja and dry most of the year.
