CIOHSA LOCALES S.L. has its origin in the Compañía Inmobiliadora del Hogar S.A. which was founded in 1956 as a company promoting the Parque de las Avenidas.
The Company was initially established to build the Parque de las Avenidas neighborhood in Madrid, taking advantage of the new Limited Income Housing laws of 1954. The project was led by the architects Francisco Echenique Gordillo and Luis Calvo Huedo and consisted of building more than 4,000 homes on an area of approximately 40 hectares.
The architects designed functional homes with all kinds of amenities that attracted officials and upper-middle class professionals thanks to the privileged location (between La Guindalera and Abroñigal, within the Salamanca district) and the excellent qualities for that time.
However, houses of different categories were built: the first and second houses are made up of blocks of up to 10 floors divided into a main sector and other services, while those of the third category were located in farther streets and are only 5 floors high. The works began in 1957 and ended in the mid-70s.
At the same time, the Company began to manage the rental of commercial premises located on the ground floor of the residential buildings being built, to provide services to this neighborhood and make the commercialization of housing more attractive. To this end, the company retained ownership of most of the premises of the Avenue Park, mainly those on Brussels Avenue and the adjacent streets. This currently involves the management of approximately 100 stores that provide services to residents throughout this area and which in practice constitute an open shopping center for all basic services.
